Honeybees Can Distinguish Odd and Even Numbers

Honeybees can distinguish odd and even numbers.  Well, they have to have a high grasp of math.  Their dance language is based entirely on numbers and geometry -- how many waggles, how fast, what direction -- to tell other bees where the food source is and its quality.  I'm surprised nobody thought to check earlier about what other mathematical concepts they can grasp.  *ponder*  I'd say try the Fibonacci sequence, which is all over flowers; or anything related to hexagons.

Coooool! I'm reminded a little of Kathleen Ann Goonan's series starting with Queen City Jazz, which has giant bio-engineered bees which do a lot of communications work.
