This poem came out of the January 3, 2023 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired by a prompt from [personal profile] fuzzyred. It also fills the "You know my methods." square in my 1-1-23 card for the Public Domain Day Bingo fest. This poem has been sponsored by [personal profile] nsfwords. It belongs to the series Hart's Farm.

"By Candlelight"

Svanhilda holds the ropes in hearty hands,
Wrapping them around and around Aisling,
Who tonight is trying to be a taper candle.

Aisling stands starkers, strapped to a post,
With wax winding its way down her skin
To nudge against her two nubbled nipples.

"You know my methods," Svanhilda murmurs,
And Aisling smiles, seduced by all the surprises.
When the men come, they'll catch her by candlelight.

Notes:

Alliterative verse is popular in Norse and other traditions.

Rope play can be done with many types of rope. Historic bondage often featured cotton, or for the wealthy, perhaps silk; jute and hemp are rougher than many people enjoy, but some folks love the rough stuff.

These are good instructions for modern wax play. Historically, people used beeswax in tapers or pillars because that's what they had. This is fine as long as you keep the candle high up from the skin: liquid wax cools rapidly as it falls through air. Remember Rule #1: test it on yourself before you use it on your bottom or submissive.
