I wanted to explore Tony before he was fully developed, and start touching on his relationships with other people outside the team. He's almost the only Avenger with close ties elsewhere, but the superhero work has put stress on those relationships now. I'd like to explore Tony's connection to Happy, Pepper, and Rhodey later in the series. So it helps to look back a bit.
