Folks have mentioned an interest in questions and conversations that make them think. So I've decided to offer more of those. This is the current list of coping skills.

11. Read.

This is one of my main coping skills.  :D  I use fiction, nonfiction, all kinds of stuff.

I do a massive amount of reading, although I'm not used to thinking of it as a coping skill.

I find that I read specific kinds of fan fiction to vent about certain things. If I'm feeling like the world should be chucked into the sun, I go looking for "independent Harry Potter" stories where Dumbledore and the Order get called out on their abuse, gaslighting, and enabling of abuse, but not ones where Harry and Tom are in luuuv/soulmates (not my thing). It's surprisingly hard to find GEN stories in most fandoms, actually. It's nice to feel that sense of "Yeah, this was WRONG! Why are people defending (insert character name here)."

If I want fluff and comfort and 'yeah, something bad happened, but you're not alone' stories, I re-read your stuff, or even some of my own, deciding what plot threads I need to pick up again.
