Three Weeks for Dreamwidth runs April 25-May 15. During this time, people post content only visible on Dreamwidth (although it can be reposted elsewhere after the event ends). There's usually a flurry of activity as bloggers share anchor posts, new fiction, icons, banners, questionnaires, friending fests, memes, and other goodies. Community hosts often hold special activities in their communities too. Watch your reading page for more festivities.
This year, I'll be posting about birds in honor of
birdfeeding. Last year, I featured hippies. If you are new to that community, we have an Introduction tag and questionnaire that you can use to tell us about yourself.
I also made a blogging questionnaire last year, which people are welcome to use. I'm going to post that on
twitter_refugees for the folks who haven't seen it before.

Learning how to identify birds is a big part of the hobby for many people. Consider your location and the time of year; that will tell you which birds are likely to be in the area. Ideally, obtain at least one field guide or app focused on birds for your locale. Look and listen. You can identify birds by their field marks and their song, or occasionally behavior. You may also wish to study bird nests, bird feathers, and other oddments such as owl pellets. Check out these resources.
