Last week's Poetry Fishbowl went well. I am still writing, but down to the last couple of pieces.

newcomers is a new community for people who are just getting started on Dreamwidth, and experienced users who want to welcome them. It features resources on how to use Dreamwidth in hopes of helping newcomers get settled here so they want to stick around. You can help by watching for new users and referring them to these or other resources. Some Cohost refugees are also starting up their own communities. If you like writing prompts, definitely check out eggbug_writes. Please forward widely, and you may copy this paragraph (or use a longer piece from the community) to reblog or crosspost it.

"The Simple Act of Caring" belongs to the Big One. Pips takes care of Bennett and gives him something to think about.
"Babes in the Pineywoods" is now open for microfunding. It belongs to the Big One thread of Polychrome Heroics. When a truck wrecks in rural New Jersey, victims of human trafficking flee into the Pine Barrens.
The weather has been dry here, and mostly mild. Seen at the birdfeeders this week: a large flock of house finches, a bluejay, a mourning dove,a downy woodpecker industriously drumming on a sunchoke stem, and a fox squirrel. Currently blooming: white Dutch clover, blue lobelia, marigolds, petunias, million bells, snapdragons, lantana, pansies, blanket flower, red salvia, moss rose, alyssum, red clover, firecracker plant, pink salvia, double superbells, pink verbena, blue salvia, black-eyed Susan, tomato, ice plant, nasturtiums, garlic chives, morning glory, purple echinacea, cup plant, zinnias, 'Autumn Joy' sedum, bachelor's button, four o'clocks, goldenrod, and frost asters. Tomatoes are ripe. Harvest is about half done. The soybean fields immediately adjacent to us are down.
