The Crowdfunding Creative Jam ran this past weekend.  I wrote three pieces, and several folks wrote stuff based on my prompts; see my gather post for links and thumbnails.

My thoughts about the tension in Ferguson, Missouri inspired the Polychrome Heroics poem "Safety Rails."  For some reason it won't echo from Dreamwidth to LiveJournal so you'll have to read it over there.

There is a half-price sale in Frankenstein's Family this week.

Poetry in Microfunding:
"The Impractical Cat" belongs to the series Polychrome Heroics.  It has 10 new verses; Damask and Farce continue the fight in the bar.  "A Cat May Look at a Queen" belongs to The Steamsmith series.  It has 4 new verses; Maryam and Farasat see the Queen at the alchemy ball.

Torn World writing update:
Approved as canon: "Unicorns on Parade" "Spruce Deer" "Wandering the Heights" (poetry).  Back to me for edits: "Cutting Cords and Clasping Hands (Parts 1-4)," "Winterheart" (parts 2-3), "Stinging Like Nettles"  "Off the Clock" (poetry).  Currently in front of the canon board: "Closing the Score" "Waste Nothing" "With a Bow" (poetry), "Ghost Bat" (nonfiction). Drafted: "Like Ash Before the Wind," "From Dark to Bright," "The Inappropriate But Useful Disposal of Lettuce" "A Thin Red Trail" (fiction), "Changes in the Wind" (poetry), "Southern Breads" "Tangleweed Article" (articles), Jularei (character sheet).  In revision at home: "Water Dance," "When the Wind's Teeth Sing," "Raining Kittens," "Finding the Holes" (fiction), "The Smallest Invaders"  (poetry).  Currently writing: "Catch of the Day," "A Cold Clear Night" (fiction).

Weather has been warmer and wetter here.  Currently blooming: shasta daisies, yellow coneflowers, echinacea, marigolds, portulaca, petunias, zinnias, sweet alyssum, torenia, motherwort, naked lady lilies, morning glories, wild sunflowers.  Green fruit: pears, apples.  Ripe fruit: blackberries.

I've been freezing them. There aren't a lot of blackberries. I got bags and bags of black raspberries this year though. It varies.

Mmmm. Time to make jam when it cools down? Or... I've been known to make a raspberry sauce to go over chocolate torte on a certain holiday in mid-Febu-ugly... :)

I usually use fruit to make cobblers, or put the filling in a crock pot and drop sweet dumplings into it.
