Landrace Gardening: Land-race Tomatoes

Folks have mentioned an interest in questions and conversations that make them think. So I've decided to offer more of those. The current batch features landrace gardening.
Land-Race Tomatoes
I grow my own variety of genetically diverse open pollinated land-race tomatoes on my farm in Paradise, Utah.
The foundation of my land-race was DX52-12, the famous Hamson's tomato. This great tomato was developed specifically for Northern Utah by Dr. Alvin Hampson of the Utah State University Extension Service. DX52-12 is the standard by which I judge every other tomato grown in my garden.

Date: 2023-03-17 12:39 am (UTC)I am in Illinois. The author of the articles is in Utah. Yes, the environments are completely different. But a landrace has high genetic diversity, so it can usually adapt to other locations.

No, because I can't stand the taste. :P I don't like turnips either. I grow sunchokes. Those I like.
